barton@synergyfitnessva.com

Barton is a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) certified personal trainer. His lifelong involvement in fitness and sports started in high school where he participated in cross country, track, soccer, wrestling, and volleyball. During his sophomore year, Barton weighed only 120 pounds and decided to challenge himself with weightlifting. His parents then bought him his first set of Olympic weights and he was hooked. Barton continued his volleyball career into college where he played in 2-on-2 grass volleyball tournaments at Cal State Northridge.

BartonÕs personal training career began in 2000 following his completion of the Body-for-Life Challenge. During this event, he underwent a physical transformation that inspired him to embrace a healthy lifestyle and help others do the same.

Barton uses functional training models to tailor his workouts to meet each clientÕs individual ability and level of experience. He believes that training routines are functional in nature and are unaffected by age, sex, or experience. Rather, he focuses on adjusting levels of intensity and difficulty/load to individualize each workout.

Barton's other interests include reading, baking bread, and learning about different herbs for culinary and medicinal use. In the near future, he plans to start a small scale livestock farm with his wife and children with the goal of providing clean food for the local region.
